The factory must grow, and this time, onto your table. MOOD Publishing’s Satisfactory: The Board Game, the tabletop adaptation of Coffee Stain’s beloved factory-building sim, launched on Gamefound on October 13 with a modest €25,000 goal. It cleared €900,000 within 24 hours. Over 3,600% funded on day one.
From Screen to Table
Satisfactory is a perfect fit for board games: the video game is already about optimization, conveyor belts, and resource chains: systems that translate naturally into engine-building mechanics. MOOD Publishing’s version is a 1–4 player engine-builder (with competitive, co-op, and solo modes) where you play FICSIT pioneers racing to build the most efficient factory network. Expect the same satisfying crunch of inputs becoming outputs, now in cardboard.
The Numbers Behind the Satisfactory Gamefound Launch
Day-one funding of €900,000+ speaks to the enormous crossover potential of video-game board game adaptations. The base pledge is €70, with a deluxe edition at €135, and with the campaign running until November 10 at 10:00 AM ET (midnight November 11 in Japan and Korea), there’s plenty of time for stretch goals to pile on. If Nemesis: Legacy shows the ceiling for crowdfunding in this space, Satisfactory shows the floor is higher than ever.
Why It Matters
Licensed video-game board games are having a moment, and Satisfactory’s day-one performance is another proof point, alongside Plants vs. Zombies: The Board Game’s £63,000 Kickstarter start. For fans of the video game, this is the closest you can get to the factory floor without a PC. We’ll be watching the stretch-goal unlocks as the campaign runs to November 10.
