The zombies are coming, and they are bringing wallets. Mantic Games’ Plants vs. Zombies: The Board Game launched on Kickstarter on October 14 and raised £63,637 from 454 backers in just 25 minutes, more than 2.5 times its £25,000 goal.
A Lane-Defense Classic Comes to the Table
The board game adapts PopCap’s beloved lane-defense formula into a 1–4 player co-op experience. Players place plants and play tool cards like the Shovel and the Lawnmower to hold back waves of zombies. A branching Zen Garden campaign drip-feeds new plants, tools, zombies, and rules as you play, keeping the table fresh across sessions.
The Telling Number: All-In Backers
The headline figure is impressive, but the telling number is 271. That is how many of the first 454 backers took the £175 Crazy Dave’s All-In pledge, a sign that this is not just nostalgia talking. Fans are going all in on the full experience.
Plants vs. Zombies Board Game Pledges, Delivery, and Deadline
Pledges range from £40 to £175, with delivery estimated for September 2027. The campaign closes on November 5, so there is still time to join the defense.
Licensed board game adaptations are having a moment on crowdfunding, from this campaign to the Satisfactory board game that raised €900K in 24 hours. Crowdfunding as a whole is on a tear, too: Nemesis: Legacy has passed €5.7 million on Gamefound.
Crazy Dave would be proud.
