What is Sword World?
Sword World is Japan’s most iconic tabletop RPG, first published by Group SNE in 1989 and shaped by the popularity of Record of Lodoss War, which began as a written up game campaign. The current edition, Sword World 2.5, runs on a fast 2d6 system: roll two dice, add a modifier, and try to reach a target number, with double sixes always succeeding. Combat skips the grid for a front line and rear guard setup that the campaign compares to classic JRPGs, with an advanced combat option for groups that want more tactics. Characters are built from 12 ancestries and 16 classes, and the open multiclass system lets players spend experience to grow in any direction.
What does the campaign fund?
The campaign funds the complete localization, design, and printing of the Sword World 2.5 core rules, produced with Group SNE’s original creators. The three books total over 900 pages.
