What is Death of Songs?
Death of Songs is an epic campaign book for Vaesen: Nordic Horror Roleplaying, set in a mythical fairy tale version of the 19th century. The story begins in Upsala and sends player characters across northern Europe to uncover a conspiracy with roots in the history of the Society itself, and Free League says it can shape the fate of both vaesen and humans across the continent.
Who wrote Death of Songs?
Nils Hintze wrote Death of Songs. Hintze was the lead writer of the Vaesen: Nordic Horror Roleplaying core rulebook, and this campaign continues the story introduced in The Dance of Dreams, the introductory mystery in that core rulebook. The book is illustrated by Johan Egerkrans and Anton Vitus.
What is inside the book?
The book contains four mysteries to play and an extensive chapter for campaign play in Upsala, the home city of the Society.

| Mysteries | Four new mysteries to play |
| Campaign chapter | Extensive chapter for campaign play in Upsala |

Free League carries a content warning on the product page: Vaesen draws on old folk tales with dark and mature themes, and the publisher says the game is not suitable for children, at least not without the Gamemaster modifying the content first.
When does Death of Songs release, and what do pre-orders get?
The hardcover is due in late Q1 2027, and Free League says pre-orders are held until a few weeks before the release. A complete PDF of the book is included with the purchase via DriveThruRPG: if the buyer’s Free League store email matches their DriveThruRPG email, the PDF is added to their library automatically, and otherwise a redeemable code is sent by email. The current PDF is a beta version that will be updated to the final version when it is ready, and Free League invites players to report typos and errata in its forums.
