When does Arkham Horror Remastered release, and when does the campaign end?
The campaign ends on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at 8 PM Eastern, and Gamefound lists estimated delivery in December 2027 for the pledges. The campaign launched on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 and funded its goal in under 18 minutes. There is no separate retail release date: Fantasy Flight Games said in its campaign livestream recap, published on the official Arkham Horror site, that there will not be a retail release for this game, so the Gamefound campaign is the announced way to get it.
How much does Arkham Horror Remastered cost?
The base pledge is $70, and the full gameplay bundle is $350. Shipping and any applicable taxes are on top of the pledge price.
| Pledge or add-on | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Arkham Reborn | $70 | Base game plus all unlocked stretch goals and daily rewards |
| Gameplay Bundle | $350 | Base game and all five expansions in one bundle, a $20 saving on buying them separately |
| Each expansion on its own | $60 | Dunwich Horror, Innsmouth Horror, Kingsport Horror, Cosmic Horror or Miskatonic Horror |
| Investigator Miniatures Set | $90 | More than 60 detailed figures with clear bases, covering investigators from the base game and expansions |
What is in the box?
The base game is the complete Arkham Horror 2nd Edition experience for 1 to 8 players: investigators in Arkham, Massachusetts in 1926, racing to close the dimensional gates opening across the city before an Ancient One awakens, with a Final Battle as the last resort if it does. The base game includes 16 investigators, each with their own stamina and sanity tracks and paired attributes such as speed and sneak, fight and will, and lore and luck.
| Expansion | What it adds, per Fantasy Flight Games |
|---|---|
| Dunwich Horror | Struggle against madness and injury in Dunwich |
| Kingsport Horror | Wandering dimensional rifts and epic battles |
| Innsmouth Horror | Investigators’ personal stories, and what is fishy about Innsmouth |
| Cosmic Horror | Four classic 2nd Edition expansions combined into one box |
| Miskatonic Horror | A wealth of new resources that supplement the collection |
Fantasy Flight Games notes the exact arrangement of expansion content may differ from the original releases, but all of the gameplay content is included. The campaign also adds a new crowdfunding exclusive investigator every day to every pledge that includes the base game, on top of the stretch goals.
What has changed in the remaster?
The presentation has changed and the game has not. Fantasy Flight Games says the graphic design has been completely overhauled from the ground up, just about every art piece has been updated to match its modern releases, and the rulebook has been rewritten to the company’s modern standard for clarity, while the gameplay and the numbers are all the same as 2nd Edition.
| Changed | Unchanged |
|---|---|
| Nearly every piece of art, updated | Core gameplay, identical to 2nd Edition |
| Graphic design and text templating, overhauled for consistency | All game numbers and mechanics |
| Rulebook, rewritten for clarity to the modern FFG standard | The win condition: close every gate, or seal six gates |
| New Upkeep symbol on components, marking what triggers in the Upkeep Phase | Some monsters have new names or looks, with no mechanical change |
How does Remastered differ from Arkham Horror 3rd Edition?
Remastered is 2nd Edition brought back, and 3rd Edition was a different game built on the same setting. Arkham Horror Third Edition, released by Fantasy Flight Games in 2018, replaced the fixed board with double-sided modular hexagonal neighborhood tiles, organized play around four scenarios with branching, narrative codex cards and objectives you discover as you play, and drew Mythos tokens from a bag instead of resolving a Mythos card each round.
| Arkham Horror Remastered | Arkham Horror Third Edition (2018) | |
|---|---|---|
| Built on | Arkham Horror 2nd Edition (2005), gameplay unchanged | A new, streamlined design in the same setting |
| Board | The fixed board of the city of Arkham | Modular, double-sided hexagonal neighborhood tiles, arranged per scenario |
| Structure | Open play against one Ancient One: close or seal the gates before it awakens | Four scenarios with branching paths and objectives revealed through play |
| Investigators | 16 in the base game | 12, with customizable starting kits |
| Players | 1 to 8 | 1 to 6 |
| Mythos step | Draw and resolve a Mythos card each round | Draw tokens from a Mythos bag |
If you bounced off 3rd Edition’s scenario structure and want the big sandbox game back, Remastered is the one built for you. If you prefer the tighter, story-led game, 3rd Edition is a separate line and Remastered does not replace it.
Is Arkham Horror Remastered the same as Arkham Horror: The Card Game?
No. Arkham Horror: The Card Game is a separate cooperative Living Card Game for 1 to 4 players with its own core set and campaign expansions, and it is not part of this campaign. Remastered is the board game, and nothing in the Gamefound campaign is a card game product.
Frequently asked questions
Is Arkham Horror Remastered a new game?
No. It is the 2005 Arkham Horror 2nd Edition with updated art, overhauled graphic design and a rewritten rulebook. Fantasy Flight Games states the gameplay and numbers are unchanged.
Can I buy Arkham Horror Remastered in a store later?
Not on any announced plan. Fantasy Flight Games clarified during its campaign livestreams that there will not be a retail release for this game, so backing the Gamefound campaign before Wednesday, November 4, 2026 is the announced route.
How long is a game?
The campaign page lists play time at around 180 minutes, so plan for a full evening, especially at higher player counts.
Do the expansions work on their own?
No. The five expansions expand the base game, and the $350 Gameplay Bundle exists precisely to pair them with it in one pledge.
