Which Lorcana sets are legal in Core Constructed right now?

Six sets are legal: Fabled, Whispers in the Well, Winterspell, Wilds Unknown, Attack of the Vine! and Hyperia City, which are Sets 9 to 14. Core Constructed is the main tournament format, used at Disney Lorcana Challenge events and store tournaments, and it is the format rotation applies to.

Set Number Core Constructed status
Fabled 9 Legal
Whispers in the Well 10 Legal
Winterspell 11 Legal
Wilds Unknown 12 Legal
Attack of the Vine! 13 Legal
Hyperia City 14 Legal
The First Chapter, Rise of the Floodborn, Into the Inklands and Ursula’s Return 1 to 4 Rotated out on Friday, September 5, 2025
Shimmering Skies, Azurite Sea, Archazia’s Island and Reign of Jafar 5 to 8 Rotated out on Friday, July 17, 2026

How does Lorcana rotation work?

Once a year, Ravensburger rotates the four oldest sets out of Core Constructed, and those cards are no longer playable in Core Constructed tournaments. The first rotation landed with Fabled on Friday, September 5, 2025 and removed Sets 1 to 4. The second landed with the Attack of the Vine! prerelease on Friday, July 17, 2026 and removed Sets 5 to 8. Ravensburger says players will generally be able to play cards from between five and eight sets in Core Constructed at any given time, and the next rotation is due in summer 2027, when Sets 9 to 12 are the four oldest sets. That 2027 timing follows the yearly pattern Ravensburger has announced; the exact date is not yet announced.

Can you still play rotated cards?

Yes, in two ways. First, Infinity Constructed allows cards from any set regardless of rotation, and it is used at official events including Disney Lorcana Challenge stops. Second, casual play at home is unaffected, because rotation applies only to Core Constructed tournament play. Rotated cards also stay useful in Limited events built from their own packs.

What happens if a rotated card is reprinted in a legal set?

It stays legal, and any printing of it can be played. Ravensburger’s rule is that if a card from a rotated set was reprinted in Fabled or later, you may still play it in Core Constructed, including an older printing, as long as the full name matches exactly. The official example is Stitch – Rock Star, first printed in The First Chapter and reprinted in Fabled. Names must match in full: Belle – Apprentice Inventor is not the same card as Belle – Inventive Engineer, and only the version reprinted in a legal set is playable.

Which Lorcana cards are banned right now?

It depends on the format, and the full current picture is in the table below. In Core Constructed, no card from a currently legal set is banned. In Infinity Constructed, one card is banned: Hiram Flaversham – Toymaker, effective Thursday, March 26, 2026. Ravensburger’s June 2026 Attack of the Vine! announcement confirms the shape of that list, stating that all cards with one exception remain legal in Infinity.

Card Set Core Constructed Infinity Constructed
Hiram Flaversham – Toymaker Rise of the Floodborn (Set 2) Banned from Tuesday, April 8, 2025, and its set has since rotated out Banned from Thursday, March 26, 2026
Fortisphere Ursula’s Return (Set 4) Banned from Tuesday, April 8, 2025, and its set has since rotated out Legal

Why were Hiram Flaversham – Toymaker and Fortisphere banned?

Ravensburger banned both cards in Core Constructed on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, the first bans in the game’s history. In his open letter, co-lead designer Steve Warner said the inability for opposing players to interact with Hiram Flaversham – Toymaker felt less enjoyable than the team wants, and that items Hiram’s ability banished gained a large advantage that was virtually unstoppable. Fortisphere was banned because it placed too much emphasis on players using items in Steel, which is not aligned with that ink’s core strengths, and together the two cards led to predictable, one-sided outcomes. The team considered banning Pawpsicle as well and left it legal. Hiram was later banned in Infinity Constructed as well, which makes it the only card banned in both formats.

What is the difference between Core Constructed and Infinity Constructed?

Core Constructed is the rotating tournament format: 60 card minimum decks, at most two ink types, at most four copies of any card with the same full name, and only cards from the current legal sets. Infinity Constructed uses the same deck rules but ignores rotation, so any set can be played, and it keeps its own separate banned list. The official Ways to Play page puts it simply: in Core, remember to abide by rotation rules and not include banned cards; in Infinity, you can use any cards you want, regardless of rotation.

Frequently asked questions

Is Fabled still legal in Lorcana?
Yes. Fabled, Set 9, is the oldest legal set in Core Constructed as of October 31, 2026, and it is due to be among the sets that rotate in the next yearly rotation in summer 2027, on a date Ravensburger has not yet announced.

Can I play The First Chapter cards in a tournament?
Not in Core Constructed, unless that exact card, with the same full name, was reprinted in Fabled or a later set. You can play any First Chapter card in Infinity Constructed, except Hiram Flaversham – Toymaker, which is banned there.

How many Lorcana cards have ever been banned?
Two cards have been banned in Core Constructed, Hiram Flaversham – Toymaker and Fortisphere, both on April 8, 2025, and one of them, Hiram Flaversham – Toymaker, is also banned in Infinity Constructed as of March 26, 2026.

Does rotation affect casual games?
No. Rotation and bans apply to tournament formats. Ravensburger’s own announcements encourage players to keep enjoying banned and rotated cards in decks played against friends and family.
