A FedEx vehicle carrying completed PSA orders was burglarized after leaving PSA’s Southern California facility, and collectors say six figures worth of graded trading cards are missing.

Card creator SKY-B said on October 17 that PSA had contacted them about their missing submission: 104 graded cards they value at over $100,000, gone. Screenshots of PSA’s email to affected customers, which SKY-B shared publicly, describe what happened: “After leaving our PSA facility in Southern California, a FedEx vehicle transporting PSA orders was burglarized, and items were stolen.”

According to the email, PSA has deactivated the certification numbers tied to the stolen cards and alerted selling platforms and auction partners, a move aimed at making the stolen slabs unsellable through legitimate channels. PSA also said it is working with FedEx and law enforcement on the investigation and recovery effort, and that customers would be compensated based on fair market value, capped at the Maximum Insured Value they selected for each order.

SKY-B is not the only collector reporting a loss. In a Reddit thread on r/psagrading, multiple customers say they received the same notification from PSA. One reported losing a PSA 9 Smaug the Magnificent from Magic: The Gathering, a card its owner had hand-delivered to PSA at a Miami convention rather than trusting it to the mail. Others described a stolen serialized Yu-Gi-Oh! card numbered 95 of 100 and an affected Pikachu card. Those accounts have not been independently verified.

Boston Card Hunter has compiled a user-reported list of stolen cards that currently names 383 cards, including one-of-one autographs and vintage Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. The list is unofficial and built from collector reports, and it may change as more reports come in. One resale tracker estimated the truck’s total load could top $1 million at current market prices, though PSA has not confirmed how many orders were on board or the total value taken.

What remains unknown: PSA’s emails do not specify when or where the burglary happened, how many orders were affected, or the total value of the stolen cards. PSA has not issued a public statement beyond its emails to affected customers.

The theft lands in a market where graded cardboard keeps setting records. Just this weekend, three Southern Islands Pokemon promos sold for $972,000 at Fanatics Collect. With single slabs routinely worth five or six figures, a truck full of completed PSA orders is a rolling vault, and this burglary is a reminder of how much value moves through the mail every day.
