What is Tramways: Age of Cities?
Tramways: Age of Cities is a new edition of Tramways, not a straight reprint. AVStudioGames says the edition brings together the base game, the expansions, and the other content released across the game’s ten-year history, from 2016 to 2026, with updated graphic design and a modernized presentation. A new visual identity is in development now, and the publisher says more news will follow as work progresses.
What is the original Tramways?
Tramways came out in 2016, designed by Alban Viard. Players build tram networks across Small City, the setting Viard returns to across his games, moving passengers to the buildings they want to reach and scoring for the happiest customers. The game mixes tile placement, deck building, and auctions, and it has grown steadily since release: the publisher’s own shop lists map expansions including Paris / New York, Tokyo/Pittsburgh, and Washington D.C./London, plus the Engineer’s Workbook volumes. It sits in the same family as Viard’s Clinic and Small City.
When does it launch, and how much will it cost?
The Kickstarter campaign is planned for February 2027. AVStudioGames has not announced an exact launch date, pledge levels, or prices yet. Tramways: Age of Cities is one of several large campaigns already dated for early 2027, and our crowdfunding tracker follows the biggest of them week by week.
