The Pokémon Company announced in Japan on Friday, November 6, 2026 that Pokémon TCG five-card expansion packs will cost ¥230, tax included, for new products releasing from May 2027 onward, up from ¥200. The change takes effect for new products, not for packs already released.

Key facts

  • Name: Pokémon Card Game expansion packs, 5 cards per pack
  • Publisher: The Pokémon Company (Japan)
  • Announced: Friday, November 6, 2026
  • Price: ¥200 now, ¥230 for new products releasing from May 2027 onward
  • Scope: Japan only in this announcement
  • official Japanese announcement

The announcement comes in a busy week for the game, with the Pokémon TCG joining the National Toy Hall of Fame and Gopuff weekly drops starting November 6.

How much are Japanese packs going up?

¥30 per pack, from ¥200 to ¥230, tax included, a 15 percent rise. The new price applies to new products releasing from May 2027, while products releasing through April 2027 stay at ¥200. At the new price, a buyer paying ¥230 per pack would pay ¥6,900 for 30 packs, up from ¥6,000 at the old price.

ProductThrough April 2027 releasesFrom May 2027 releases
Expansion pack (5 cards)¥200 (tax included)¥230 (tax included)
30-pack booster box equivalent¥6,000¥6,900

The box figure follows from the per-pack price. Some expansion packs may be priced differently, per the official notice.

Why is the price rising?

The official notice cites rising raw material costs and other factors. Products outside the expansion pack lineup will be priced individually, per the same notice.

Is this the first increase?

No. PokéBeach reported on November 6 that packs rose from ¥180 to ¥200 in May 2026, so this is the second May increase in a row. That earlier rise set the ¥200 price that stays in place for products releasing through April 2027. PokéBeach also noted the new per-pack price puts a 30-pack box at ¥6,900, up from ¥6,000.

Does this change English pack prices?

Not in this announcement. It covers Japanese products only and makes no statement about English or other markets. Nothing in the notice changes the price of packs already on sale in Japan at ¥200. For current US pricing, see our Pokémon and Magic MSRP Price Guide.
