Wizards of the Coast has announced production and shipping delays affecting select products from the upcoming Magic: The Gathering – Star Trek Universes Beyond set, which is slated to release on November 13. If you’re planning a preorder pickup at your local game store, or were hoping to have Commander decks in hand on day one, you’ll want to read the fine print.

What’s Delayed, and Where

In North America, the delay hits the Star Trek Commander decks. Players across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, as well as Asia-Pacific, face a broader set of holdups: Collector Boosters, Commander decks, bundles, and Scene Boxes will all arrive later than planned. It’s a patchwork of delays that varies by region, so exactly what’s late depends on where you live: a headache for anyone tracking global release coverage or planning cross-region purchases.

What Isn’t Affected

The good news: Play Boosters and Prerelease Packs are unaffected, which means prerelease events should still go off as scheduled. That’s a smart prioritization on WotC’s part. Limited play is the beating heart of a set launch, and keeping prerelease on track preserves the communal, in-store experience that drives so much of a new set’s momentum. If your store runs a prerelease weekend, expect it to proceed as planned.

What This Means for Players and Stores

For players, the practical takeaway is simple: check with your LGS before release weekend about when your specific products will land. Commander is the format most affected here, and with Commander decks among the most popular preorders in recent Universes Beyond launches, expect day-one demand to outstrip supply on the decks that do arrive on time. For stores, staggered arrivals mean staggered sales, worth communicating clearly to customers who preordered bundles or Scene Boxes.

Delays are an unfortunate reality of global print logistics, but transparency is what matters, and knowing now, weeks out, beats finding out at the counter. We’ll keep tracking this story as WotC confirms revised timelines. Beam yourself to your store’s preorder list sooner rather than later.
